Shimura’s debut album ‘Transmission’ is now out through Petite Victory Collective.

Transmission leans into the experimental, exploring what is possible rather than being confined by genre: a piano flutter is incongruous yet intertwined with granulated industrial noise; a voice from generations past drowns in the clunk of heavy machinery and reverberates a dystopian future; Lynchian Cold war-era number stations call out against layers of drones. From the seeds of these conceptual sounds, tracks emerge that evoke memories of outdoor raves – a hood over the eyes looking out into the fog as the sun begins to rise. Transmission is an introspection, and the track fit together cohesively.

Transmission was fueled by Shimura’s fascination with modular instruments, and particularly their ability to allow him translate his musical ideas into reality organically without a computer. Each track came from days spent refining a patch, hours of jamming and eventually a recording live from the hardware.
